What’s Included in a Typical Hydrant Install

    • Preconstruction & coordination – Review of utility maps/locates, clearances, and agency standards; confirm bury depth, setback, and traffic ratings.

    • Excavation & bedding – Trenching and base preparation sized for lead, auxiliary valve, and fittings.

    • Valve, lead & fittings – Auxiliary gate/OS&Y valve, restrained joints, bends/tees, and mechanical or flange connections per spec.

    • Thrust restraint – Concrete thrust blocks and/or restrained gaskets as detailed; verify bearing area and soil conditions.

    • Hydrant setting & orientation – Proper bury line, breakaway flange height, nozzle orientation to roadway, and operating nut alignment.

    • Disinfection, flushing & testing – Chlorination/flushing of new mains per the controlling authority; pressure and fire-flow testing with documented results.

    • Restoration – Backfill and compaction, base and asphalt/concrete replacement, striping/reflectors where required.

    • Closeout – As-builts, GPS points (when requested), test reports, and O&M info.

Need roadway or sidewalk restoration around the installation? We self-perform trench backfilling and concrete flatwork.

    Arizona-Specific Considerations

    • Heat & UV: Choose coatings, gaskets, and sealants suitable for high temperatures and sun exposure.

    • Monsoon & flooding: Provide erosion control, protect excavations, and plan for stormwater during open-cut work.

    • Soils (caliche/hardpan): Moisture conditioning and appropriate compaction effort to achieve density around fittings and blocks.

    Project Types We Support

Residential subdivisions • Industrial/business parks • Public ROW improvements • Utility system upgrades • Campus, healthcare, and data center projects

    Our Process

    1. Plan & permit support – Submittals, cut sheets, and schedule/traffic coordination.

    2. Install – Safe excavation, valve/lead placement, thrust restraint, hydrant setting.

    3. Test & disinfect – Pressure testing, flushing, and fire-flow verification.

    4. Restore & close out – Surface restoration, documentation, and turnover.
