Best-fit tank constructions
-
Polyethylene (HDPE): Lightweight, cost-effective, UV-stabilized; great for above-ground storage.
-
Fiberglass: High strength and chemical resistance; excellent in harsh or coastal environments.
-
Coated steel (bolted or welded): Very durable with liner/coatings for potable or industrial water.
-
Reinforced concrete (underground): Long life, protected from temperature swings, minimal visual impact.
Common uses for a 10k-gal tank
-
Fire protection reserves and hydrant supply (when required by AHJ).
-
Irrigation & ag storage for drought resilience.
-
Rainwater harvesting with screening, first-flush, and filtration.
-
Process & industrial make-up water or equipment supply.
-
Emergency preparedness for facilities and campuses.
Installation essentials (what we handle)
-
Siting & grading: Level, compacted base; clear access for deliveries and service.
-
Foundations: Engineered pads/ring beams sized to tank footprint and loads.
-
Anchoring & restraint: Wind and seismic hold-downs per local code.
-
Piping & appurtenances: Inlets/outlets, overflows, anti-vortex, vents, gauges, sample taps, level sensors.
-
Backflow & disinfection: Potable systems chlorinated and documented.
-
Commissioning: Leak test, controls check, owner training, O&M manuals.
Arizona-specific considerations
-
UV & heat: Choose UV-stabilized materials; light colors reduce thermal gain.
-
Monsoon events: Oversized overflows, splash control, perimeter drainage.
-
Wildfire readiness: Fire-rated fittings, suction stubs, and signage where required.
-
Water quality: Algae control (opaque tanks), screens, and maintenance schedules.
Care & maintenance
-
Annual external/internal inspections, sediment removal, gasket/seal checks, level sensor calibration, and periodic disinfection for potable systems.

FAQs
How big is a 10,000-gallon tank footprint?
Depends on material and form. Typical above-ground vertical tanks range ~10–14 ft diameter and 12–18 ft tall. We’ll size/locate during the site walk.
Is a 10,000-gallon tank suitable for fire protection?
Often yes—when sized and outfitted to the fire marshal’s requirements (fittings, signage, suction, refill rate). We coordinate with your AHJ.
Can it store potable water?
Yes. We specify NSF/ANSI/CAN 61–compliant materials/liners and provide disinfection and documentation at startup.
Above-ground or underground—what’s best in Arizona?
Above-ground is faster and lower cost; underground offers thermal stability and minimal visual impact. We’ll recommend based on space, aesthetics, and use.
What maintenance is required?
Visual checks quarterly, valve/level tests semiannually, and internal cleaning/inspection typically every 1–3 years depending on water quality and use.
